Maalaboratorion kehittämistarpeet: CASE AFRY Finland Oy

Abstract

Työn tarkoituksena oli tarkastella AFRY:n Kuopion toimipisteen yhteydessä toimivan geoteknisen maalabratorion nykyistä toimintaa ja sen kehitystarpeita. Muutaman viime vuoden aikana laboratorion käyttöaste oli noussut aiemmasta tilanteesta ja tilaajalla oli ilmennyt tarve lähteä kehittämään laboratoriotoimintaa. Muun muassa työohjeiden päivittäminen oli ajankohtaista. Työn tavoitteena oli koota tilaajalle ehdotuksia laboratorion toiminnan kehittämisestä sekä tehdä selvitys palveluiden kysynnästä ja niihin vaikuttavista tekijöistä.

Lähdeaineistona tässä työssä käytettiin geoteknisiä laboratoriotutkimuksia sekä geoteknista suunnittelua käsittelevää kirjallisuutta sekä standardeja. Kirjallisuusosiossa luotiin katsaus Suomen maaperään ja siihen miksi geoteknisia tutkimuksia tarvitaan ja kuka niitä tarvitsee. Työssä tarkasteltiin myös geotekni-sia laboratoriotutkimuksia koskevia teknisiä laatuvaatimuksia. Työ tehtiin haastattelemalla alan eri toimijoita ja havainnoimalla kehitystarpeita maalaboratoriossa työskennellessä.

Työn tuloksena selvitettiin geoteknisille laboratoriotutkimuksille vaadittuja teknisiä laatuvaatimuksia sekä laboratoriopalveluiden kysyntää ja saatavuutta. Kehityskohteissa käsiteltiin muun muassa laboratorioon jätehuollon ja toimintamenetelmien kehittämistä. Laboratoriossa käytössä olevat laboratoriotutkimusten työohjeet päivitettiin myös ajan tasalle.

The purpose of the thesis was to examine the current operations and development needs of AFRY's geotechnical laboratory operating in connection with the Kuopio office. Over the past few years, the utilization rate of the laboratory had risen from the previous situation and the customer had become aware of the need to start developing their laboratory operations. Among other things, updating the work instructions was topical. The aim of the work was to compile suggestions for the client on the development of the laboratory's operations and to make a study of the demand for services and the factors affecting them.

Literature of geotechnical laboratory studies and standards on geotechnical design were used as source material in this work. The literature section created an overview of the Finnish soil as well as why geotechnical surveys are needed and who needs them. The technical quality requirements for geotech-nical laboratory research were also examined in the work. The work was done by interviewing various actors in the field and observing development needs while working in the geotechnical laboratory.

As a result of the work, the technical quality requirements for geotechnical laboratory research and the demand and availability of laboratory services were investigated. The development projects addressed, among other things, the development of waste management and operating methods for the laboratory. The laboratory study work instructions used in the laboratory were also updated.
