Tiivistelmä
Opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli tutkia uusien digitaalisten työkalujen tarvetta ja käyttömahdollisuuksia lappilaisten tietotekniikkaa tuotekehityksessään hyödyntävien pk-yritysten keskuudessa. Tämän lisäksi tavoitteena oli luoda Lapin ammattikorkeakoulun TEQU-palvelulle selvitys jo olemassa olevista digitaalisen kaksosen käyttötarkoituksista ja niiden rakennustyökaluista. Selvitys tukee CoolBox-hankkeen loppuunvientiä.
Opinnäytetyössä pyrittiin selvittämään digitaalisen kaksosen käsitettä sekä tutkittiin digitaalisen kaksosen yrityksille tuomia hyötyjä tuotekehityksessä ja yhteensopivuutta muiden olemassa olevien digitaalisten insinöörityökalujen kanssa (esim. BIM). Työ tehtiin laadullisena tutkimuksena CoolBox-hankkeelle sopivan digitaalisen kaksosen luomistyökalun löytämiseksi. Tutkimusaineistona toimivat alan yritysten omat sekä akateemisesti pätevät aiheeseen liittyvät julkaisut. DUKE-hankkeen projektipäällikkö sekä lappilaisille pienille ja keskikokoisille yrityksille tehty kysely olivat tärkeässä asemassa tietopohjan kehittämiselle.
Kyselyn vastausten perusteella lappilaisten yritysten keskuudessa todettiin asiakkaiden olevan tärkein huomioitava ryhmä uusien tuotteiden kehitystä tehdessä. Suurin osa yrityksistä käyttää digitaalisia työkaluja, joista merkittävimpänä CAD. Kaikki yritykset odottivat seuraavan kymmenen vuoden sisällä digitaalisten ja virtuaalisten työkalujen yleistymistä tuotekehityksessä. The purpose of the thesis was to map the possibilities and needs for digital engineering tools among small and medium sized Lapland-based companies. In the thesis the aim was to create a clarification of existing digital twin creation tools and their methods of use for TEQU, a Lapland university of applies sciences-based service to support the process of their ongoing CoolBox -project.
The research goals were to resolve the essence of a digital twin and to inspect the results companies achieved by using the tool as well as the compatibility of digital twins with other digital engineering tools (e.g. BIM). The research method for the thesis was qualitative research to find a suitable tool for the use of the CoolBox -project. The sources of information were the tools creators’ websites and academically sufficient publications within the field of information technology and product development. The project manager of DUKE-project and a questionnaire implemented for the small and medium sized Lapland-based companies was an important part in creation of the knowledge base.
Based on the answers of the questionnaire, among Lapland-based companies it was established that the clients are the most important group to take notice of in product development. Digital tools are used in most of the companies and the most used tools are CAD programs. All the companies expected digital and virtual tools becoming more common in product development within the next ten years.
