Wireless technology is becoming more popular in the industry each year. A few advantages of wireless communication are flexibility, mobility, scalability and wireless. Because of the advantages, the client company wants to implement such a technology in a future product.
In the theory part, different short range wireless technologies are researched, to find the most suitable one for the client company. The literature sources used are technical specifications, books, research papers and blog posts. The practical part is an evaluation of the chosen technology and hardware that supports the technology. The evaluation was necessary to ensure that the technology and hardware is good enough for the intended purpose.
The tested device is the BlueNRG-M2SA module, which is manufactured by ST Microelectronics. The application code used in the testing was an example code provided by the manufacturer that was modified to provide data of interest. The conclusion of the research was that BLE is a good technology to use for this pur-pose. The test showed that BLE and the tested hardware is a good option to be used in a future product.
