The purpose of this thesis was to expand the business capabilities of a company by enabling collecting of money from customers without doing invoices manually. This thesis was made in collaboration with Osuuspankki and it takes advantage of the latest European Union directive that requires the banks to open their payments for other businesses.
First, the basic request types and what different methods can be used to indicate the requests were studied. Another aim was to find out what the different network requests are intended to do and some examples of their usage. Next, how to create a request were looked into. Also, what parts of the address are used differently and what the responses can look for with different request methods was studied.
The next step was to study the security side and see how traffic is encrypted and what different security protocols are used in modern web traffic. Moreover, application programming interface and representational state transfer interface were researched and how they are used in networking was looked into.
As a result of this thesis a payment request with the Osuuspankki API was created in the test environment and new payments could be created with network requests.
