Tiivistelmä
Lävistäminen ja lävistyskorut ovat normaali näky Suomen katukuvassa. Varsinkin nuoret ihmiset suosivat erikoisempiakin lävistyksiä korvakorujen lisäksi. Mistä tämä on lähtöisin, onko meillä muita syitä lävistää kehoamme kuin esteettiset syyt? Miksi lävistyskorut eivät ole muuttuneet Suomessa 1990-luvun lävistysbuumin jälkeen?
Tässä opinnäytetyössä tutkittiin lävistämisen historiaa ja Suomen lävistämiskulttuurin syntyä ja mitä kaikkea muuta lävistäminen liittyy. Opinnäytetyössä tutkittiin myös, miten lävistyskorujen tekniikka on kehittynyt, kuka sen on keksinyt ja miten. Keräsin tietoa aiheesta kirjallisuutta lukemalla ja tekemällä kaksi kyselyä. Opinnäytetyön toinen kysely suunnattiin lävistetyille ihmisille ja toinen lävistäjille. Sen avulla sain tietoa, minkälaiset lävistyskorut ihmisiä kiehtovat ja miksi ihmiset ovat lävistyksensä hankkineet.
Lopputuloksena syntyi lyhyt katsaus lävistämisen historiaan ja lävistämiskulttuurin syntyyn. Sain vastauksen siihen, miksi lävistyskorut ovat sellaisia kuin ovat ja miksi lävistyskorukulttuuri on säilynyt niin samanlaisena kymmeniä vuosia. Lisäksi suunnittelin muutaman korvakorukokonaisuuden kyselyjen perusteella, koska halusin opinnäytetyöhön kuitenkin näkyviin myös omaa kädenjälkeäni. Piercing and piercing jewelry are a normal sight in the streetscape of Finland. Especially young people prefer even more special piercings in addition to earrings. Where does this come from, do we have any other reasons to pierce our body than aesthetic reasons? Why has piercing jewelry not changed in Finland since the piercing boom of the 1990s?
In this thesis, the history of piercing and the birth of the Finnish piercing culture and everything else related to piercing were studied. The thesis also examined how the technology of piercing jewelry has developed, who invented it and how. I have gathered information on the subject by reading literature and sending two surveys. The second survey of the thesis is aimed at pierced people and the second at piercers. It gave me insight into what kind of piercing jewelry fascinates people and why people have acquired their piercings.
The result was a brief overview of the history of piercing and the emergence of a piercing culture. I got an answer as to why piercing jewelry is what it is and why the culture of piercing jewelry has remained so similar for decades. In addition, I designed a few earrings based on the surveys because I also wanted to see my own handprint in the thesis.
