Tiivistelmä
MySafety organization has been working remotely since March 2020 due to Covid19-pandemic. For many employees this was the first time working outside the office for a longer period time. The aim of this study is to find out how well employees are leading themselves and what is the motivation status. Ever since December 2019, negative stress levels have increased within mySafety and this study is investigating where the negative stress comes from, and what could employer do for employees' well-being and how employer could enhance employee's self-leadership skills. This thesis is qualitative research. The research method used were interviews. Interviews included conversations and coaching aspect. Data was collected from Swedish and Finnish organizations. The theoretical framework used in the work consisted of literature, internet sources and previous research.
The results of the study showed that there is space for employer to support employee's self-leadership skills as well as enhance leadership that is supporting positive self-talk and self-reflection. Employer could focus more on being consistent with communication about company's strategic plans and how to get there. Employer and occupational health service could create a project that focuses on sleep and recovery. Many employees have had problems with sleeping. All employers were happy with the closest manager and their tasks and given goals. Work life balance is optimal. Negative stress is mostly due to personal lives, lack of partner / product process or company’s strategic goals which are affecting people safety need. Self-leadership coaching will enhance employee's self-reflections skills and that way their behaviors and attitudes towards change, which is constant in a startup- company. It would be useful for mySafety leaders to focus more on emotional intelligence and coaching leadership, which will allow psychological safety feeling. Due to sensitivity of the case, this thesis is confidential and not open to public.
