This thesis deals with the subject of tax planning in limited companies. The target of the thesis is to find the most optimal mix of salary and dividend from the company and owners’ perspective. The most optimal mix is achieved by tax planning, as well as by taking the needs of owners’ cash flow needs into account. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with how a limited company and its shareholders are taxed in Finland. In the theoretical part of the thesis I explain associated Finnish laws, rules and regulations and also the taxation of salaries and dividends. The empirical part of the thesis deals with the owners’ possibilities for raising salaries and dividends from the company. I analyzed the opportunities through a qualitative study. The qualitative study is performed by changing the owners’ salaries and by that I achieved different results. The company I studied is active in the plumbing sector and it is located in the most southern city in Finland, Hanko. The results of the analysis clearly show that owners’ salaries should be adjusted to achieve the optimal mix of salary and dividends.
