Missä nuoriso luuraa? : selvitys Elävän musiikin yhdistys ELMU ry:lle alaikäisten konserttikäynneistä Nosturissa

Abstract

Tämä opinnäytetyö on tehty Elävän musiikin yhdistys ELMU ry:n tilauksesta. Työn tavoitteena on selvittää, miksi 13 - 17-vuotiaat nuoret eivät käy Nosturissa järjestettävissä konserteissa. Työ on luonteeltaan tapaustutkimus. Tutkimusaineistona käytetään 13 - 17-vuotiaille nuorille suunnatun e-lomakekyselyn tuloksia, sekä Nosturin konserttien ennakkolippujen myyntitilastoja.

Työn viitekehyksessä paneudutaan nuorisotutkimukseen, vapaa-aikaan, nuorisoon ja nuorten musiikkiharrastukseen. Nuorisotutkimuksessa selitetään minkälainen tutkimuskohde nuoriso on. Nuorisobarometrien tulosten perusteella suomalaiset nuoret ovat hyvin tyytyväisiä vapaa-aikaansa, ja vapaa-aikaa vietetään ystävien kanssa. Kevyen musiikin konsertit ovat tärkeitä nuorille, ja musiikkia aktiivisesti harrastavat nuoret käyvät useammin konserteissa kuin muut ikätoverit.

E-lomakekyselyn tulosten perusteella voidaan todeta nuorten konserttikäyntien vähentyneen, koska he eivät saa kavereitaan mukaan keikoille. Toisena tärkeänä seikkana nousee esiin tiedon saannin puute tapahtumista. Ennakkolippujen myyntitilastojen avulla tarkastellaan ennakkomyynnin kehitystä alaikäisten osalta, sekä Nosturin bänditarjontaa viime vuosina. Lipunmyyntitilastoja ja lomaketuloksia verratessa vaikuttaa siltä, että Nosturin ohjelmatarjonta musiikkityylin suhteen on oikeilla jäljillä, mutta esiintyjävalinnat eivät ole aina nuorten mieleen.

Johtopäätöksenä voidaan todeta, että sosiaalisen median käyttöön tulisi panostaa aiempaa enemmän tiedottamisen parantamiseksi ja nuorten tavoittamiseksi. Nuoret tulee saada myös tuntemaan itsensä osaksi ELMUn ja Nosturin yhteisöä, jotta nuori voisi lähteä katsomaan keikkaa yksin tietäen saavansa tuttua seuraa paikan päältä.

This Bachelor's thesis is a case study concerned with the minors' absence from the concerts and gigs at Nosturi. The aim is to find explanations for Live Music Association ELMU for why 13 - 17 year old teens do not attend concerts at Nosturi. Research material for this thesis consists of the results derived from an online survey for 13 - 17-year-olds and presale statistics from Nosturi's past events.

Studies, free time, and music as a hobby form the keywords for the theoretical framework. With respect to youth study, this thesis explains what kind of target group is formed by the young from the point of view of research. Young people do appreciate their free time in Finland. They like to spend time with their friends, and they also think concerts and gigs are valuable as free time activities. Youth, who actively play some instrument or sing, tend to go to more concerts than their fellow teens.

Based on the survey results, it is obvious that the teenagers do not go to concerts if they cannot make any friends with them. Lack of information on upcoming events is also a major issue. Presale figures show the trend of youth attendance during the past years. They are also used to determine what kinds of bands and artists have been performing at Nosturi. When compared, it seems that Nosturi's offering and teens' demands based on music genre are very close to each other. Performers just do not satisfy the youths' needs.

As a conclusion, Nosturi needs to improve their usage and content on social media. The best way to reach the young is to offer better services on Facebook and on YouTube. There is also a need to make teens feel they are a part of ELMU and Nosturi communities. This way they could go to a concert alone but to be with friends after the arrival.
