The aim of this study is to give a wider aspect of wines to the staff at the restaurant at Hotel Kantarellis in Vaasa and also for the staff to feel growth and become more self-confident in their daily work tasks. This study is a project, where I plan to hold a wine training event, so that the staff after the training and in the future can give the customers adequate wine and food recommendations. I also hope that the training works for the staff to become more motivated in their work. In the theoretical part profitability, sales, motivation and employee training are discussed. All the theory is based on the employee satisfaction and the possibility for training and growth. The profitability part is a process of how a company can become more profitable when you have a motivated staff and likewise in the sales part how we can get more sales when we have a satisfied staff team. In the part which deals with motivation of employees reveals both theory on human needs and growth as a motivator. In the last part the results of training and why we have training events is presented. After the theoretical part planning of the training is described, in order to later describe how the training went step by step. After this part the training day will be summarized, with the help of the feedback I got from the participants. From the feedback form emerged that the participants were very satisfied with the training and they also considered it extremely instructive and the participants had learned a great deal of new things, both to combine food and wine and also facts about the wines and the grapes at the wine list. After the training had been taken place the participants had become more self-confident and have now been able to recommend more wine with different courses. It also emerged that some of the participants had become more motivated as they now had progressed and felt they were more competent in their work tasks. The participants hoped for more similar events in the future.
