Tiivistelmä
Corporate responsibility (CR) has become an important aspect of doing business globally and its importance is likely to grow in the future as companies are increasingly expected to take part in finding solutions to climate change, depletion of natural resources, and social problems.

Main objective of this thesis is to develop CR in the commissioning company. The aim is to first identify the most relevant CR topics and themes to be developed in the commissioning company and its operations by examining certain stakeholders determined by the commissioning company. Also, differences between stakeholder groups will be examined to gain deeper information. Finally, based on the findings, development suggestions for the commissioning company will be proposed to answer the main objective of this thesis. The information provided by this thesis will be utilised as a part of a bigger CR development project that is currently on-going in the commissioning company. However, the development suggestions will not be implemented during this thesis process, and their implementation is left for the responsibility of the commissioning company subsequently. Also, all stakeholders and their viewpoints on CR issues cannot be included in this thesis, thus, only the most relevant stakeholders defined by the commissioning company will be examined.

Two distinct research methods will be used to collect an encompassing picture of the selected stakeholder groups’ (employees, rental workers, and clients) insights on their interests and expectations on CR, and to find the most relevant development targets and suggestions to be implemented later on by the commissioning company. First, a quantitative survey including questions and statements concerning all three dimensions of CR (economic, social and environmental) will be conducted to employees, rental workers, and clients of the commissioning company. Next, to gain deeper, qualitative insights from the selected stakeholder groups, semi-structured interviews will be held with volunteers from each stakeholder group also comprising all three dimensions of CR.

The results from the survey and the semi-structured interviews revealed that the commissioning company already performs multiple actions that were important for the examined stakeholders. However, also some development suggestions were identified and proposed to the commissioning company in order to advance and develop its responsibility further. Based on the findings, most of the examined stakeholders appreciated soft values such as the importance of well-being and resilience of the personnel, taking care of occupational safety and health, and open and truthful communication.
