Tiivistelmä
NAS-palvelimet ovat yleistymässä huimaa vauhtia niiden skaalautuvuuden ja tehokkaan
tiedostojärjestelmien avulla. NAS-palvelimet ovat tehokas ratkaisu lisäämään
yrityksen tai yksityishenkilön tallennustilaa ja turvaamaan sen nykyaikaisilla
RAID ratkaisuilla.
Opinnäytetyö projektin tavoitteena oli toteuttaa toimiva NAS-palvelin yksityiskäyttöön
käyttäen TrueNAS CORE -käyttöjärjestelmää. Lisäksi projektiin kuului
osana tutkia NAS-palvelimien historiaa ja keskeisiä ominaisuuksia kuten RAID ja
tiedostojärjestelmä.
Opinnäytetyön projektin tuloksena valmistui toimiva NAS-palvelin, joka toimii
lähiverkossa tallennussijaintina. Tähän yhdistettiin myös tietokone, jolla tallennus
toimintoa testattiin onnistuneesti. Lisäkehityksenä projektissa on uusien kovalevyjen
asentaminen ja mahdollisen VPN-yhteyden konfigurointi. NAS servers are becoming more common with their scalability and powerful
file systems. NAS servers are a powerful solution to increase the storage space
of a company hardware or consumer hardware and preventing data loses with
modern RAID solutions.
The aim of the thesis project was to implement a working NAS server for private
use using the TrueNAS CORE operating system. In addition, the project involved
researching the history and key features of NAS servers such as RAID and the file system. As a result of the thesis project, a working NAS server was completed, which
acts as a storage location in the local network. The storage capability was tested on the connected computer successfully. A further development in the project is the installation of new hard disks and the configuration of a possible VPN connection.
