Tiivistelmä
The Covid 19 pandemic brought logistical nightmares globally. There was not one sector that was unaffected. Even those who were believed to have profited from the pandemic such as the Pharmacies, Food Sellers described as ‘’necessities’’ by the WHO World Health Organization were affected as they depended on the supply of raw materials.
The impact of the logistics industry has been significant, as evidenced by various logistic reports highlighting significant restrictions, limitations, and regulation on air, land, and ocean freight around the world, affecting both importers and exporters and in turn the end user. As such, it has had a significant impact on the global economy, particularly in cases where the continuous lockdown and wider restriction are still in effect.
This study investigates the different sectors affected and how they tried to re invent themselves to survive. Information was gathered from logistics companies dealing with the situation on the ground in real time. As a result, the difficulties experienced and the actions the companies planned to take were the most important topics described and analysed because they paint a picture of what is really happening and serve as reliable sources of practical information for further research. In essence, the primary difficulties in the logistics business were restrictions in availability of personnel, regulations covering movement of people and transport vehicles on land, sea and air, and the adaptation of technology to deal with rapidly changing situations. All of these created major and significant logistical issues in global, regional and local supply chains.
