Mobile devices have become very much crucial in everyday life. Mobile technology has significantly developed and acquired numerous achievements throughout history in order to meet the users’ needs. However, the most critical condition for mobile device advancement is its network behind them, cellular network. This thesis aims to present the quality of cellular network signal in various conditions.
This thesis focuses on measuring mobile cellular network signal strength inside the Technobothnia laboratory. The idea was to create a connection between a mobile device and a base station inside a Faraday cage and measure the signal strength through CellMapper. The thesis was carried out by conducting the investigation on the signal strength of cellular networks in different receiving environments. The test consists of three stages. The first stage was to establish a connection between a mobile device and a base station and measure the signal strength. The second stage was to test the feature of the Faraday cage and the last stage was to test the signal strength inside Faraday cage when this room is isolated.
At the end, it is concluded that the signal strength of cellular networks will be affected by different receiving environments. During the research, the features and services from mobile devices can be properly comprehended and this greatly contributes to more advanced research in the future.
