Elokuvajulisteiden graafisten elementtien ja genren yhteys

Abstract

Opinnäytetyön aiheena oli tutkia, kuinka elokuvajuliste luodaan elokuvan genreen sopivaksi, sekä mistä graafisista elementeistä elokuvajuliste rakentuu. Tavoitteena oli ymmärtää, millä perusteella elokuvajulis-teissa käytetyt elementit on valittu ja miksi elementtien pohtiminen on tärkeää viestin oikeanlaisen välit-tymisen kannalta. Opinnäytetyössä tutkitaan hieman elokuvateollisuuden historiaa ja esitellään esimerkke-jä elokuvajulisteista ja niiden luomisesta. Opinnäytetyössä tarkasteltiin elokuvajulisteita graafisen suunnittelun näkökulmasta ja luotiin kolme uutta versiota valituista elokuvajulisteista hyödyntäen tutkimuksessa ilmennyttä tietoa. Kolme uutta versiota ovat omia luomuksiani ja toteutettu käyttämällä alkuperäisiä julisteita inspiraationa. Saavutettuja lopputuloksia verrattiin alkuperäisiin julisteisiin ja tarkasteltiin elementti kerrallaan.

The purpose of this thesis was to understand why different graphic elements are used to build a movie poster and how the elements support the movie’s genre. The goal was to understand the thought process that goes into creating a movie poster from scratch and why that thought process is important when the goal is to convey a story using an image. This thesis takes a brief look at the history of the film industry, movie posters and their production. This thesis consists of a written research portion and a creative graphic design portion in which three new versions of the three chosen movie posters were created using the information that was found in the re-search. The three movie posters were created by using the original ones as a source of inspiration. The results were compared to the original posters and analyzed in categories side by side.
