Valmet Technologies Oy commissioned this bachelor’s thesis to prove the value of time VS money invested in LogApp, a mobile web-based solution, and the value of implementing it in the most suitable locations
The author’s goal was to prove the value of LogApp as well as its impact, based on internal documentation, tests on-site, surveys, and usage data analysis. The answers were retrieved by interviewing and handing out surveys to warehouse managers, operators, and operation planners allocated to the warehouses (2nd December 2021 and 17th December 2021). The usage data retrieved for analyses date the period between 3rd March, the day LogApp, and 3rd December. The data raised obstacles, faced during and after the implementation of LogApp, as well as required developments.
Relying on the theoretical framework of warehouse management, layout, operations, and lean process, this thesis exposes the processes, routines, and visual displays in Hyvinkää, Jyväskylä as well as some high-level mention to the other warehouses where LogApp is already in use.
The value was found while demonstrating its usability as well as based on key and end-user feedback. Based on the data gathered the author was able reach a conclusion and create a list of suggestions on how to enable continuous improvement and usability.
This is a public version for publishing, as such all confidential information was erased from it. In addition, the classified version has been sent separately to the commissioner.
