As the labor market is becoming more and more competitive and integrated with technology, having a web portfolio to demonstrate professional qualifications and values can help a candidate stand out and impress the hiring managers early in the hiring process. Employers, who are looking for a potential fit to their companies, can not only validate a candidate’s proficiencies but also learn deeper about them at personal level through their portfolio.
The purpose of this thesis is to give the readers guidelines on how to create an appropriate professional web portfolio that can increase their chances of landing a job in the information driven society regardless of their technical skills and professions.
The theoretical framework reviewed existed literature to gain a complete under-standing of the term professional web portfolio and to explore its benefits and usage in the recruitment. The following chapter adapted the general design process to develop a practical guideline for the thesis purpose and studied the importance of each step in it.
The research knowledge was later utilized to create the author’s own professional web portfolio. The development process of this web portfolio was documented as a sample to guide the reader in their journey.
