Tiivistelmä
M O T I O N S [ˈmoʊʃənz] -tanssiteos on Aurora Suhosen taiteellinen opinnäytetyö. Teos sai ensi-iltansa 15.3.2022 Kuopiossa Itak-näyttämöllä osana Lähtölaukaus-festivaalia. Teos tutki kehotietoisuuden ulottuvuuksia ja keho-mieli yhteyden suhdetta liikkeeseen osana koreografista prosessia. Teoksessa tutkittiin lisäksi tanssijan ja tanssiteoksen autenttisuutta ja autenttista olemista. Opinnäytetyön tavoitteena oli syventää tekijän tanssikäsityksiä ja koreografista ammatti-identiteettiä teoksen aiheiden kautta.
Teos käsitteli kehon, mielen ja liikkeen eri lähtökohtia ja suhteita, tanssikoreografian ja erilaisten kehotietoisuuden harjoitteiden kautta. Aurora Suhonen toimi teoksessa sekä koreografina, että tanssijana.
Tämä opinnäytetyön kirjallinen raportti käsittelee M O T I O N S [ˈmoʊʃənz] -teoksen prosessin lähtökohtia ja menetelmiä, sekä avaa valmista teosta näiden pohjalta. Raportissa avataan myös Suhosen tanssikäsityksiä tanssintekijänä ja keskeisimpiä käsitteitä ja teorioita käsiteltävien aiheiden kautta. Lopussa pohditaan valmiin teoksen pohjalta syntyneitä kokemuksia ja tekijän ammatillista kasvua opinnäytetyön prosessin aikana.
Teoksen harjoitusprosessi lisäsi Suhosen ymmärrystä kehotietoisuudesta ja sen hyödyntämisestä koreografisessa prosessissa. Teos haastoi työryhmän pohtimaan omaa ja yhteistä olemista esitystilanteessa ja reflektoimaan kokemuksiaan tietoisesti. M O T I O N S [ˈmoʊʃənz] -dance production is an artistic thesis by Aurora Suhonen. The production premi-ered on March 15, 2022, in Kuopio at the Itak-stage as a part of Lähtölaukaus-festival. The production explored the dimensions of body awareness and the relationship between body and mind in movement as a part of choreographic process. The production also examined the authenticity of the dancer and the dance production. The goal of the thesis was to deepen Suhonen’s understanding of dance and choreographical professional identity through the topics of the work.
The production worked with different starting points and relations of the body, mind, and movement, through dance choreography and various body awareness practices. The production was built together with a team of six dancers. Aurora Suhonen worked as a choreographer and as a dancer in the production.
This written report of the thesis deals with the starting points and methods of the production of M O T I O N S [ˈmoʊʃənz], and opens the finished work on the basis of these. The report also opens the author’s perceptions of dance as a dance artist and the key topics and theories through the topics covered. The experiences of the finished production and the professional growth of the author through the process are considered at the end of this report.
The process of the production broadened Suhonen’s understanding of body awareness and its utilization in choreographic process. The production challenged the dancers to ponder their own and common being/existence and to reflect on their experiences consciously.
