Tiivistelmä
The fearless organization by Amy C. Edmondson is the inspiration behind this research. The book has many different examples of failed organizations and different approaches to creating safe spaces in a work environment. Speaking up has many consequences. The paper studies the results of how a great leader influences and sets the tone of organizational culture. The empirical study is carried out through a questionnaire that analyses the respondents’ answers to the research questions.
Not having a supportive manager/leader lead to toxic organizational culture or the opposite, which creates freedom to be vulnerable and creates an advanced organization. Those leaders who took workers well being seriously had great empathy skills. Therefore, the factors that allow healthy psychological safety to thrive as well as the benefits and opportunities for speaking up at work give are important topics to research in more detail.
This thesis aims to understand how and why using feelings and emotions can provide fearless organizations and fearless leaders. How do these factors enhance human health and mental health at work? The study seeks to answer how recognizing the complexity instead of ignoring these issues enhances physical and mental health at work.
Empathy is the key phenomenon to providing great organizational culture and leaders in order to be able to sense another person’s feelings and take an active interest in their concerns. This way we allow growth, self-awareness, and trust in the workplace and organizations.
