Tiivistelmä
The purpose of this thesis was to create an integration between configuration management database (CMDB) and an IP address management (IPAM) database. In the current state analysis, it was identified that the company had insufficient reporting capabilities about their services. This was caused by the siloed data and lack of relationships between configuration items.
The study was based on the Gate model methodology and was divided into seven sections. The input for the proposal was gathered from the internal and external stakeholders, relevant documentation and publications.
The result of this thesis was a unidirectional integration between two information systems ServiceNow and Netbox. Additionally, an automatised CI – relationship manager was created, that maintains relationships between CI based on multiple conditions.
By enabling the data flow and creating automatic process for CI relationships, the company was able to improve their CMDB visibility and reporting capabilities. Which in the end lead to decrease of the operational costs and quicker response time in a dynamic environment.
