Tiivistelmä
The purpose of this project is to create an IoT device that could measure the total uptime of connected products using a μC USB connection. The total uptime will be implemented in the Digital Product Passport as one of the most important elements to decide the remaining lifetime of electrical products and help with the advancement of the Circular Economy Digital Marketplace project.

This report describes many aspects of this project. First, the theoretical study of IoT concerning device cloud, security, and device management is given an in-depth look. Second, the implemented hardware including EEPROM, capacitors, and Lithium-ion batteries is analyzed. Third, the software required for data processing and communication between the Particle Photon and the Google cloud-based storage is discussed. Fourth, the detailed step-by-step progress of the project to measure and report the products’ uptime in both capacitors and Lithium-ion battery methods is explained along with the demo testing result. Last, a conclusion is reached based on the report result along with the improvement possibilities of this project in future circular markets.

Unfortunately, the prototype in both methods could not produce the desired result due to the time constraint, device capability limitations, and components shortage. However, this project managed to create a clear path for improvement and integration to perfect the device in future development.
