Tiivistelmä
This diary thesis follows the daily challenges of the author while he works as a junior soft ware developer for a Helsinki based SaaS company. The author doesn’t have any prior working experience in a developer role, but has gained knowledge through his studies and own projects. The time period for the observations is from the 19th of August 2021 until the 3rd of November 2021. The goal of the diary thesis is to perform research on topics that help the author at his work.
Since the author doesn’t have any prior work experience in the field, the challenges in this diary thesis is a mix of basic and specific challenges. The basic challenges were mostly about interacting with the developer environment and the best working practices. Also communication and working together with his colleagues is discussed and some technical topics like git, influence the way the author works together with his colleagues.
The specific challenges required in depth web technology knowledge. These have been ranging from iframes and web API’s to the MYSQL HEX() function and higher order com ponents. This diary thesis helps to shed a light on some technical issues which might be hard to understand for somehow who just started working in software development.
In the end this diary thesis helped the author to learn more about his daily work and helped him providing a better quality in the work he delivered.
