Tiivistelmä
Tiktok is an interactive social media for sharing and creating short videos that appeal to many teenagers (Hayes et al., 2020). For this reason, it has become a learning window, which some school teachers take advantage of to stimulate abilities such as creativity (Fajardo, Alguacil & Carril, 2021). However, like any other social media, introducing it in the educational field represents many challenges, especially when it comes to creativity as it implies freedom to create.
Thus, this study explored how Tiktok could be used by high school teachers of the Education for Work class, as a tool that could potentially stimulate the creativity of their students. For these purposes, a qualitative research design and an inductive thematic analysis were used with a diverse sample of 10 teachers of the Education for Work course at the secondary level in Peru. The collection was carried out through semi-structured virtual interviews.
In order to stimulate creativity using Tiktok as an educational tool, some major challenges have been identified: 1) Believing that creativity is a skill that can be trained, 2) Stop directly associating artistic fields with creativity 3) Promote a balance between freedom and (self) control regarding the use of Tiktok. 4) Focus on the creative process over the final product and 5) Having support in infrastructure, connectivity and training.
