Tiivistelmä
Opinnäytetyö on tehty SSAB:n Raahen terästehtaan terässulatolle.
The thesis is written for SSAB’s Raahe steelworks. The main objective of the thesis was to investigate the possibilities of the lifecycle maintenance for control centres of the gas cutting machines. In addition the aim was to find out whether lifecycle maintenance could be achieved by maintenance alone or whether a possible renovation would be necessary. The needed maintenance lifecycle would be expected to last until about 2030, after which the current gas cutting machines might not be needed. The aim of the study was to gather further information to support a decision of renovation in the near future. Gas cutting machines work at continuous casting plants where they cut cast slabs to specified measure.
In this work, additional information and observations were collected with the help of people working at the steelworks, the material that could be found and with various indicators. To support the decision, the costs resulting from the degree of disruption had to be determined. The costs made it possible to observe the impact of the disturbances on production. In addition, the availability of existing parts and their lifecycle had to be investigated to identify maintenance options. During the work, it was found that the most critical gas cutting machine from the production point of view, through increasing breakdowns, is the one that imposes the highest costs on production. Existing spare parts and maintenance alone were unlikely to achieve the lifecycle goals set for maintenance. The findings and additional information gathered during this work will provide good support for future decision making.
