Tiivistelmä
This study was commissioned by the lunch restaurant Ravintola Saras Oy that operates only seasonally during golfing season. The purpose of the study was to explore Ravintola Saras Oy’s recruitment process and how to improve it. Because Ravintola Saras Oy only operates seasonally, improving their recruitment process is essential especially now with the ongoing struggles of restaurant businesses after the world pandemic Covid-19.
The theoretical background included general information about human resource management, personnel forecasting, and recruitment process and its three stages: defining the job requirements, attracting potential employees, and selecting the right applicants.
Qualitative research was chosen for this study to acquire in-depth and thorough knowledge of the case company’s recruitment process and its challenges. The research was conducted by the author through a semi-structured interview with the HR manager and restaurant manager of the case company.
The information gathered from the research show that the case company’s recruitment process does not differentiate significantly from the recruitment process introduced in the theoretical framework. The research also revealed that seasonality, forecasting personnel and using external sources effectively are the main challenges of the case company’s recruitment process.
In the study it is pointed out that the case company already has an effective recruitment process, and therefore, the suggestions and ideas are focused on the writing of the job description and the usage of external sources. Finally, ideas for further expanded research are given by the author.
