The topic for this thesis originated from the desire to set up and run a restaurant that would convey the values of authentic Vietnamese cuisine. The author has a certain understanding of this cuisine and the need of realizing the business plan is the motivation for the author to choose the thesis topic "A Start-up Restaurant’s Business Plan: Authentic Vietnamese Kitchen in Vaasa". The thesis includes chapters on theoretical framework, research method and finally refers to the author's restaurant idea.
The theoretical framework includes an explanation of the importance of the research and analytical objectives required for a business plan, accompanied by a short explanation of the authentic Vietnamese culinary culture.
The research method chapter includes and explanation of the definition of the Benchmarking research method, a method that allows the author to analyse competitors through analysing and comparing benchmarks of the similarities, differences and their business goals and thereby assisting the author in finding her competitive advantages.
The results of the study show the author the important business messages from the competitors. From there, comparing the author's business idea and determine its feasibility. The result of the business plan is also mentioned, but the author plans to go deeper into that at a later stage, the author will make a more detailed business plan when the business idea reaches the stage of seeking loan support and will have significant changes compared to the plan in this thesis.
