Tiivistelmä
The study aims to provide a historical overview of the previous generation of networks as well as interpret what to expect from future generations of mobile networks. The thesis also gives detailed information on the existing 5G mobile communication background, architecture and how the networks have evolved over the years. Along with the review of new features, security flaws and drawbacks that come with the future generation of mobile technology also be addressed in the literature. Security vulnerabilities and risks are the major concern for any new network technology as a massive number of devices will connect and communicate.
A network speed test application was developed to understand the network’s capabilities and differentiate it from previous generations of networks. The latest JavaScript technology with the combination of framework React Native and Expo was also used in the development process.
As a result, a functional mobile application was developed and tested in different generations of networks. After performing the tests, a noticeable throughput difference between the generation of networks was observed.
