Tiivistelmä
This diary thesis is written to report the daily activities, tasks and progress of a trainee working at China-Network of Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences in Finland referred as China-Network in the following. Additionally, weekly analysis is documented to reflect the author´s findings, challenges and development each week. The observation period of the thesis is from 18.04.2022-11.06.2022.
This thesis consists of four parts, the introduction, the framework, daily observation, and the conclusion.
The introduction part describes the China-Network and author´s profile with background information. Mainly focuses on the description of 5 working thematic areas and 3 chosen competencies to develop as these two subtopics construct the core content of the thesis.
The framework provides an overview of the analysis of the current role and assignments. Various internal and external stakeholders are introduced to justify the need for interaction skills for the role. Additionally, the framework consists of the analysis of three main focusing competencies of the author´s current work regarding marketing, communication and coordination.
Daily observation describes the author´s daily tasks and objectives day by day related to chosen focusing competencies. At the end of each week, the weekly analysis reflects on the problems identified during the week and solutions to the problems or efforts made to resolve them. This part of the report also reflects on the challenges, developments and achievements based on observation notes, research and daily logs of the author.
The main objective of this thesis was to demonstrate the daily practices of opening and expanding into the Chinese market for Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences. These practices include regular activities learning and overcoming difficult challenges which are demanded by intricate relationships, diversity of Finnish and Chinese culture, policy, systems and daily multitasks.
In conclusion, writing this diary thesis was a highly interesting journey. The author learned a better understanding of different areas regarding marketing, communication and coordination. Additionally, it led the author to improve her existing competencies, find her own topics of interest and motivate her to take on more responsibilities in this field.
