This is a project-based thesis that aims to provide a basic understanding of affiliate marketing mainly to affiliates, but it allows the consumers to understand the marketing tactics as well. This thesis is structured into project tasks, and completing each task explains a different aspect of affiliate marketing.
The author of this thesis wants to launch an affiliate marketing start-up. This project serves as preliminary research on whether she would like to officially launch the business, how can she begin and how can she design her own website. Although it focuses on the areas the author is interested in, it also showcases the very basic aspects every affiliate marketer needs to consider.
The theoretical framework studies what affiliate marketing is, how to start affiliate marketing from the affiliate’s point of view, and the ethical and legal issues that come with this business model. The analysis of profitable niches worldwide, available affiliate programs, and showcasing affiliate content and its impact on consumers are all included in this project. In the end, the author reflects on how this project-based thesis affected her in both academic and career aspects.
The outcome is the result of both theoretical and practical parts, making this whole thesis a guide for beginning affiliate marketers on how to start and design their own websites. There are steps that need to be taken to start affiliate marketing, and the results and findings of this thesis describe each of that steps and what measurements need to be considered. The results also showed the author what kind of start-up she would like to operate, it also includes what niche and affiliate program she will sign up for.
