Tiivistelmä
Wireless Local Area Networks have become an essential part of contemporary network structure meaning that the demand for such a high-performance WLAN, especially in organizational environments, is decisive.
This thesis aims to configure and deploy an Extended Service Set WLAN by using two NETGEAR WAX610 Access Points, which will allow the wireless clients to roam within the network seamlessly and without connection interruptions.
The study of the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands was conducted to select the best channel allocation, deal with interference and coverage area and achieve optimal and user-friendly performance.
The security of the network was also considered. A RADIUS server was employed to authenticate the wireless clients and it will allow only those with stored credentials to connect to the wireless network.
Additionally, the Wi-Fi radio settings provided by the APs were studied; it remains to be seen how they affect the clients as well as the entire network.
Finally, the results showed that the configuration of the equipment and the entire network was successful, and the fundamental goal of an extended service set was accomplished.
