Tiivistelmä
Logline: Nothing (Else) Matters is a musical drama about a shy Finnish songwriter who falls madly in love with a Death Metal rock star, only to realize that finding her soulmate could cost her everything.
Synopsis: Greta’s journey begins with a singing audition to a cover band. The guitarist of the cover band, Jack, invites her to visit him at a studio, where a famous metal band, with Jack’s cousin Sam, is recording their album. On the road-trip with her roommate Natalie Greta meet Sam, a heavy metal megastar. The two start dating but Sam refuses to be exclusive.
Greta plays a rehearsal show and a bigger showcase with the cover band. Greta underperforms her engineering studies and her relationship with Sam grows deeper, even though there are signs that things are not how they seem. Greta confronts Sam about their relationship status. The two agree that Sam will tell her if he has been with other women. Greta has too many drinks at a romantic getaway the day before her debut in the cover band and her performance sucks. The band gives her a second chance.
While Sam is on tour, Natalie finds out Sam has been with other women. Greta also finds out she has chlamydia but she ends up comforting Sam and drinking whiskey and hooking up. She forgets her band’s big showcase and gets fired from the cover band. She goes back to Sam’s after the show to find him with another woman. Greta contacts Jack to help her record a demo. Greta makes a move on Jack but he rejects her. Greta finds out she is pregnant. Greta and Sam chase each other in the forest where Greta falls of a cliff. Sam proposes to Greta before going on tour again and Greta says yes. Greta gets signed by a new record label started by her university lecturer who is a former musician. She also gets a job at a music instrument store run by her teacher’s husband. Sam returns from tour for one day only and Greta realizes he is not ready for what’s coming and instead of him taking care of her, she ends up taking care of him. Doubts grow stronger by the minute as the pregnancy progresses, until Greta gets a phone call in the middle of the night that Sam has overdosed and died. Two years later Greta plays a record release show and shares the moment with Natalie, her record label and Jack who is also her sound mixer and lover. Keywords: screenplay, film, music, heavy metal, love story
