Tiivistelmä
Disabilities related to detecting and interpreting visual functions require accommodation in online architecture. Symptoms of developmental dyslexia are common in the adult population, and symptoms of color vision deficiency are relatively common in the adult male population. In order to be accessible for these conditions, website design should adopt certain principles in User experience and particularly in User interface.

This paper inspects several accessibility features in online design in the context of developmental dyslexia and color vision deficiency. Relevant literature and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines are utilized in defining good features of accessibility for developmental dyslexia and color vision deficiency. Based on these findings real existing websites are used for a practical analysis on their accessibility. Finally, with this established theory and practical critique, this paper creates drafts of important developmental dyslexia and color vision deficiency -friendly accessibility features for website designers. The results found that typography, color contrast and color intensity are crucial for website usability for the intended user group. As these features can be seen as part of the User interface, it would seem that in this case User interface can have a very practical and functional role in website design.

Combined accessibility for developmental dyslexia and color vision deficiency is a feasible goal for website designing. This provides an example for further scrutiny of accessibility features for different conditions, and how they can be conveniently combined. The role of UI in software development should be looked at from different perspectives depending on context.
