Tiivistelmä
This thesis documents the process of organizing the Tuuni23 working life event, in a diary format. The diary covers the entire process beginning in October 2022 and ending in February 2023. The role of the author in this thesis work was event organizer along with another thesis worker, working on a separate thesis. The aim of the thesis is to describe the process of organizing an event, as well as a separate development task of bringing in companies with international business operations.
Tuuni23 is an annual working life event, held for business students in Oulu University of Applied Sciences. The event is held in the beginning of the year, in order to improve the students’ chances of finding internships, jobs, summer jobs and project works. Each year a number of companies and organizations are invited to attend the event to network and offer students placements.
The theoretical background for this thesis is based on event management and international business. The diary entries also follow phases introduced in the event management section, based on a event management framework called EMBOK- event management body of knowledge. The international business portion describes the potential international business operations companies can have that would qualify them for placements for international business students.
In order to measure the success of both the event and the development task, two separate surveys and an interview were conducted. The event itself yielded positive feedback. The results show however that while there were companies with international business operations in attendance, a secondary barrier of language is still a common issue that international business students will face.
