The aim of this thesis will be to understand the interests of socially responsible investments (SRI) in relation to traditional financial investments, in a world where both are linked but act in different ways, depending on the location, customs, culture or environment of each country or region of the world. It will illustrate this idea by presenting the limits of the practice of socially responsible investments.
To achieve this objective, four sections will emerge from the body of research to discuss the topic.
The first will identify the history of socially responsible investment and its different phases and will lead into the second part which draws parallels between SRI and social movements. The third part will follow up on the relationship of SRIs with social movements in the face of the paradox that financial logic might be.
Two regions of the world, Europe, and the US, will be studied in the fourth part to determine the differences that can be found in their formation.
In the fifth part, proposals for discussion on the above topics will be proposed. This will give way to a final part which will conclude the subject of SRIs and its limits.
