A terminally ill cat travels to an old motel complex alongside her owner who is raising money for a surgery that might save the cat’s life. Soon the owner discovers that he was tricked and lured into coming to this motel — by his cat.
Synopsis
HIBISCUS, an ordinary brown cat, has been living with her master RUNO for 18 years. Runo is a family man and quite a successful manager of a real estate company.
A hopeless diagnosis of terminal cancer convinces Runo that the time has come to put Hibiscus to sleep. However, just before the deadly injection the vet breaks the news that the salvation is still possible — a costly surgery in the States might prolong Hibiscus’s life.
Runo takes an opportunity to go for a business trip and earn some extra money for the cat’s treatment. His mission is to demolish an old motel complex Mäntymotelli in Etelä-Savo. Runo is familiar with the place, since he used to spend most of his holidays here as a kid and a teenager. He used to have a very close connection with the owner’s daughter, Kaisa, since young age. They were in love, but some complications torn them apart and they haven’t seen each other since.
Once Runo arrives to Mäntymotelli after all these years, he is stunned to find Kaisa still living there. Nevertheless, it is just only the beginning of the thunderbolts. The same day Kaisa reveals some dark history of her past that Runo has never known. Soon after that Kaisa admits that in fact she has never ever left Runo since they split up and followed him all these 18 years — disguised as his beloved cat Hibiscus...
