Tiivistelmä
I work in Kesko Oyj. To be precise, I belong to the IT department and my team is named "Data Platform and Technology". I have worked in the company since April 2021.
Kesko has three business divisions "Grocery Trade", "Building and Technical Trade" and "Car Trade". My role supports "Building and Technical Trade" division. This division has the particularity that it operates in seven countries: Finland, Sweden, Norway, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland. Some of the companies that belong to the unit are K-Rauta, Onninen, K-Bygg, Byggmakker, Intersport and Budget Sport.
I started working as "Business Intelligence Developer", but my role has been slowly moving towards a managerial one. My current title is "Manager" since June 2022. As a result, my role is blend of the two positions in the company.
I am a Qlik Sense developer, and my main responsibility is to lead Qlik Sense backend development in Building and Technical Trade. This means to own the ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) in the unit to make sure the data is processed and is ready to be used for Qlik Sense frontend developers (internal and external) to build Qlik Sense apps serving the business requirements.
Also, I am managing the end-to-end development in the unit performing as "Scrum Master" in the team. The main role is to assist other developers in Finland and Sweden mainly to resolve any potential blockers that harm their workflow. I need to respond as “Service Owner” for Qlik Sense in building and technical trade division in Kesko. To accomplish this, I need to coordinate tasks with several stakeholders.
This thesis will reflect my daily job duties against three different areas of professional development: data engineering skills, agile project management and finally soft skills like leadership and team management.
