It describes the development and deployment of a microcontroller-based fingerprint recognition system. The system employs biometric technology to recognize fingerprints, which is known for its ease of use, precision, and affordability.
The system includes a fingerprint module and a microcontroller, performing fingerprint image collection, processing, feature extraction, comparison, and matching of feature values. The resulting output is displayed on a 12864 LCD module, and external devices are controlled using a relay module. The microcontroller used in the project is the STC89C52RC, and the fingerprint module used is the ZFM-60. The system also implemented a 4 x 4 matrix key, which perform the functions of password entering and menu selection. A 24C02 EEPROM is used in the project to store the passwords given by the user.
The system was tested using a database of fingerprints, and the results showed that it achieved a high accuracy rate. The proposed system can be used in various applications, such as security systems, access control systems, and attendance systems. It offers low-cost, efficient, and reliable biometric authentication, and can contribute to the development of biometric systems for different applications.
