Tiivistelmä
Many corporations are nowadays outsourcing IT functions and consuming IT as-a-service. Networking is no different; many managed service providers offer LAN, WLAN, and WAN services in a network-as-a-service fashion.
Implementation of a managed network service differs from other domains of IT as a service, as every physical location is different, and network devices are always installed on site. This puts lots of pressure on the design of such a service.
In this thesis, managed LAN service was designed for a hypothetical corporation with office and manufacturing locations in multiple countries. The results of this thesis show how complicated and multi-faceted the task of providing LAN as a service is. Yet, when carefully planned and implemented, such a service offers a viable option for any corporation
