This research work explains the part heat pumps can have in industry processes to replace fossil fuels in Germany. The author specifies the need to bail-out fossil fuels and gives an overview about the legislation in Europe and Germany and describes their mission to reach net-zero carbon emissions.
Qualitative research was conducted and represents organizations’ opinion and experience related to the ‘energy transition’, laws and regulations. For greater insights on the topic the author interviewed organizations from different industries as well as experts. Organizations explain the function of heat pumps in their processes, and they also tell the reasons why heat pumps may not be an option for them for now.
The outcome of this thesis gives a comprehension about companies’ expectations from the government and the impact regulations and subsidies have on organizations’ sustainable development. The reader learns about the role heat pumps have in the energy transition and the challenges organizations are facing in the implementation of renewable energies.
