Tiivistelmä
This thesis is made as a commissioning work for the Nordic branch of a global animal health company. The purpose of this thesis is to improve the user experience on the Nordic websites of an animal health company. The above is done by creating a website renewal guide on how to partially renew the Nordic websites of the animal health company. A partial renewal indicates that the website renewal guide is delimited to only explaining the developmental process and is not involving the actual website renewal implementation.

This functional thesis is written around two main areas: a theoretical framework part and a functional part. The theoretical framework part consists of discussion about the thesis key concepts, which are company’s websites as a digital marketing method, foundations of a well-functioning website, and improvement of website user experience. The functional part includes the further introduction of methods used in the website renewal guide creation, explains the planning process of the guide creation, and eventually describes the content of the website renewal guide. The website renewal guide is attached to the Appendix of this thesis.

Research methods used in this thesis are the collection of user feedback and benchmarking. The user feedback was collected from members among the animal health company’s target audience. The benchmarking method was used to compare the current Nordic website structure, layout, and content to the animal health company’s own more-developed websites from other countries. The countries in question are Ireland, France, and Belgium. The most suitable elements from the websites of above countries are described in the website renewal guide as instructions, which are subjected for implementation to the Nordic websites.

The website renewal guide is created with Microsoft PowerPoint by using an existing internal template, which follows the animal health company’s brand guidelines. The ready guide is intended to be used by a colleague of the animal health company, who is responsible of implementing the renewals stated in the guide.

The thesis process commenced in the beginning of March 2023 and was completed at the end of May 2023.
