The aim of this thesis was to provide its reader with an idea of the tools that could be used by govern-ments interested in the successful development of competitive gaming in their regions. By analyzing the material in the thesis, it is possible to understand which areas are important to cover and how to stimu-late growth. The study includes a presentation of the development of the Russian esports market with social and economic factors. In addition to this, the thesis contains information on the key problems of the rapid growth of the market.
To collect data on the development, it was decided to conduct a series of interviews with esports repre-sentatives of the market to estimate their opinions. Interviews provided information on the level of gov-ernmental involvement, examples of support and evaluation of its general role. In the analysis of the data, it was concluded that educational, financial, and regulative support have been the most notable as well as recognition of esports as a sport. Thus, this study could be beneficial for those readers who are interested in the development of esports in their regions or looking for inspiration. The thesis also opens a discussion of current problems and gives some suggestions to solve them.
