Patient undergoing through surgical procedure may need continue observation, monitoring, and nursing care according to type of surgical procedure. Post operative nursing care and intervention aims to stabilize the patient’s health status as well as promotes patient’s recovery through nursing management regarding hemodynamic status, fluid balance, wound care, mobility and preventing complication.
This study was conducted to explore nursing intervention recommendation in post-operative care of vascular surgical patient. The research process started with the formulation of the research question. This study had adopted qualitative literature reviews method and collected peer reviewed articles from online database such as PubMed, CINAHL, science direct, research gate. Articles were searched according to including and excluding criteria. Ten relevant articles were selected for the study. Deductive content analysis approached were used to synthesised and analysis of the data from selected articles.
The studies show that nursing intervention recommendation involves various nursing care activities that focus on enhance patient recovery such as close monitoring/assessment/management of somatic status as well and psychological status in nursing management during post operative period. During post operative care nursing competences are importing factor for patient safety and management of patient complication. Patient’s behaviour and comfort are the indicator of qualitative nursing care outcome.
In conclusion, It is important note that post operative nurses are the one who are close to patient care and able to provide comprehensive care through nursing intervention. Nursing role and nursing competences are equally important for better postoperative outcomes and prevent complication in vascular surgical patient.
