Tiivistelmä
The purpose of this thesis was to make the technology choices for the case company´s hyperscaler cloud services. The case company is a Nordic IT service provider company that is providing services in public cloud platforms. As there are multiple hyperscaler clouds, this thesis concentrates to the services at market leaders´ hyperscaler clouds.
The thesis study is based on data collection that gathered basic data from services systems, currently used technologies and from selected stakeholders in the case company. The data from the stakeholders is collected in semi-structured interviews and workshops.
The thesis revealed the importance of understanding why certain technologies are used and what are the limitations of those technologies. The hyperscaler cloud services should select the technologies against the business and service need to meet customer requirements in the market. The Technology choices are not always based on the so-called “the best of the best” technologies in the market but what technologies brings most useful outcome to service needs. This thesis suggested that the hyperscaler cloud services should be evaluated against market standards and trends to meet customer expectations. Selected technologies were then listed in the technology taxonomy to make sure that all personnel know the used technologies, so that competence development can be done efficiently against these technology choices and future service development can utilize the same technologies to be efficient and scalable.
Based on the results of this thesis, the case company hyperscaler cloud unit was able to make service development plan that enhances the services, the overall competence level to meet the selected technologies and increase the hyperscaler cloud units’ capabilities in markets and current customers. This development of the case company´s ability to provide services that are meeting the customer demand will make the case company a valuable player in the market and guarantee the growth of the company.
