Tiivistelmä
The thesis was done as an insurance company's IT environment development project. Various authorities closely monitor the operations of the insurance company. These things should also be considered when developing and renewing the IT environment.

The company has a very complex and challenging managed IT environment. The environment includes on-premises, cloud, and legacy systems and services. The purpose is to make the IT environment more straightforward and cost-effective, consuming less IT resources. However, the IT environment should also be secure in the future and consider the regulations and best operating practices set by the authorities for the insurance industry. Systems and services develop quickly; getting support for old legacy systems isn't easy. Innovations and advanced systems help businesses achieve better results. A smooth and considered transition to new environments would be necessary. Maintaining old systems also increases the workload of the company's internal IT.

A solution to the problem was found within the framework of the official guidelines for the insurance industry. Cloud services offer an automated service, the maintenance of which can be shared with the service provider if necessary. Various cloud service models and services and their related security were surveyed. The three largest cloud service providers chosen for the study were Amazon, Microsoft, and Google. A free test environment was made for them, where can be found information and instructions. The result was recommendations for the company to move to the cloud. The company's internal systems were included in the study, and external systems were excluded.
