This thesis was completed in two semester during the author's final study programme at Haaga-Helia. The objective of this product-oriented thesis was to create a comprehensive business plan for an outstanding Indonesian restaurant in Helsinki metropolitan area. The other objectives were to provide a roadmap for the restaurant's financial, marketing, and operational activities, as well as to help the author comprehend with the company's vision, ambitions, and upcoming problems.
The history and appeal of many ethnic cuisines were highlighted in this thesis, while examining them in Finland and around the world to consider cultural adaptations to suit local tastes and maintaining the authenticity of Indonesian dishes. The Hungry for Finland project initiative 2020 - 2028 has attracted big attention in Finland and it shows the potential of Finland's rising ethnic cuisine trends for the country's specific culinary entrepreneurs.
The Introduction had provided an explanation of the study objectives, the research limitations, and the thesis format.
This thesis was complemented by the theoretical framework, the methods that the author used to create the business model, and the various elements of a business plan are covered in the Theoretical Framework section.
The elements that go into designing the final product was included in the process of establishment. The process of establishment in this product-oriented thesis will explain how the business was formed with the essential elements and decision regarding a business plan for an Indonesian restaurant.
The result of this thesis was that the price strategies, menu development, prime location, and momentum of opening a fast-casual Indonesian restaurant are crucial factors for running a successful restaurant. On top of that, the key differentiator in the food menu will also be the strong value of the restaurant itself, which currently has no direct competitors. This Indonesian restaurant will have a unique selling proposition, and it will be one of a kind in Finland.
This business plan will be implemented in the very near future. Therefore, this business plan can be used as a guidance in order to establish an Indonesian restaurant smoothly and successfully in Helsinki area. This business plan will be further developed to include the potential expansion of the restaurant in many cities in Finland.
