Tiivistelmä
In today's business world with increasing globalization and regulatory requirements, supplier documentation has become more important than ever. Supplier document control is an essential asset and a significant aspect of modern business operations. Well managed supplier documentation ensures transparency, compliance, and efficient supply chain management. Documentation is also legal evidence, which gives the industry its compliance and rights to operate within the law. When supplier document management is done well it adds direct value to the business and engages customer interest.
The aim of this thesis was to find out improvements and solutions for the company’s supplier document management. The company’s continuous improvement programme, the Six Sig-ma’s DMAIC methodology, was applied/used as a theory base of this thesis; and two previous improvement projects were used as a study case. The first one, a Yellow Belt project, was focusing on the RFQ (Request for Quotation) documentation (2021-2022); and the second project, Green Belt, was focusing on improving supplier document control at the company (2022-2024). The Six Sigma methodology has been used in both improvements.
In conclusion, the improvement results were shared, and an overall view of today’s supplier document management functions was created. Difficulties and realities of the improvement implementations and operations were explored, and future improvement suggestions for the company’s Supplier Document Management were outlined, emphasizing the importance of good supplier document management.
