Tiivistelmä
This bachelor’s thesis focuses on the learning environment of the DIB program students from their perspective. The thesis looks at the learning methods that support learning as well as tutoring ́s part in it. The purpose of this thesis, commissioned for Oulu University of Applied Sciences (Oamk), is to help them and the DIB program specifically to identify the areas for improvement and get a better understanding of the student ́s opinion on the degree. This thesis used quantitative research in the form of a student survey conducted in Webropol. The survey was done with DIB students. This thesis provides unique improvement ideas based on the results of student research specifically made for Oamk.
The authors of this thesis have been students in this degree for the past three years, which gave them the incentive to research more about the degree, as they began their studies during a world- wide pandemic. Theoretical framework for this thesis was based reputable resources including books academic articles and institutional based websites. On the basis of these theoretical re- sources, the authors were able to develop and conduct a comprehensive and informational re search that received over 50 respondents’ valuable insights and opinions.
The findings of the study showed that students in the DIB program feel that there are things that could be developed and changed within the degree. These things included aspects such as tutoring services, the quality of the teaching and the amount of groupwork that takes place during courses in the DIB program.
In conclusion, this research provides insights for Oamk about students ́ view on these very practical aspects of the learning journey. Based on these results, there is a possibility for Oamk to make practical changes, for example in developing the tutoring and learning that they facilitate. However, this research was more focused on overall experiences which resulted in larger focus on criticism rather than the positive aspects that Oamk has succeeded in, according to the students.
