Tiivistelmä
During an 8-week reporting period of an internship spanning over 5 months, a Bachelor in Business Administration student undertook an internship at an export consultancy firm in Barcelona, Spain. The primary focus was to assist Rayen Group, a Spanish manufacturer of home goods supplies, in extending its operations into Finland and the rest of Northern Europe.
The intern’s work goals primarily revolved around aiding Rayen Group’s expansion efforts by conducting extensive market research, prospecting for potential clients and distributors, executing marketing strategies, following up on commercial activities, and providing general assistance to the export department. These tasks aimed to enhance the intern’s skills in market analysis, client communication, proposal development, and industry knowledge.
Rayen Group, a long-standing player in the market since its establishment in 1954, offers products under the brand names Rayen and Mery. Their product range includes items such as ironing, laundry, kitchen, bathroom, and organization supplies under the Rayen brand while cleaning supplies are marketed under the Mery brand. Rayen Group products are widely distributed and can be found in approximately 80 countries, with a prominent presence in major Spanish retailers like El Corte Ingles, Mercadona, Carrefour, and Amazon.
The intern’s knowledge base comprised subjects related to business administration, market research methodologies, client relationship management, and export operations. Key sources of information included academic coursework, industry publications, online databases, and guidance from experienced professionals within the export consultancy firm.
Throughout the internship, the intern demonstrated significant growth in various areas. They gained practical experience in conducting market research, honed their skills in prospecting and client communication, developed proficiency in database management, and refined their ability to execute marketing strategies effectively. Additionally, they enhanced their understanding of export operations and acquired valuable insights into the complexities of international business. Overall, the internship provided a platform for the intern to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, thereby fostering readiness for independent work in the future.
