Tiivistelmä
Obesity is a common health problem worldwide, especially among young adults in developed and developing countries. In Kenya, the burden of obesity has increased and is associated with more significant adverse health outcomes. The purpose of this thesis is to provide a broader understanding of obesity among young adults in Kenya, with the help of a pamphlet. The pamphlet has been designed with simple and easy-to-understand text and eye-catching graphics to attract the attention of the viewer and keep them engaged in the content. The pamphlet is suitable for conveying educative messages on obesity to the masses in the digital space. Relevant literature has been used to support the key messages conveyed on the poster, including the definition of obesity, causes of obesity, impacts of obesity, health risks associated with obesity, and the prevention interventions for obesity among the young adults in Kenya. Factors such as unhealthy dietary habits, sedentary lifestyles, media influence, and genetics contribute to obesity among young adults in Kenya. Pamphlets can help create awareness and educate the young adults in Kenya regarding the effective strategies to prevent and manage obesity since they can easily reach a vast audience and convey simpler messages in attractive ways. Conducting education and awareness campaigns on the issue of obesity and its prevention can be fulfilled with the help of educative pamphlets, through various platforms including social media, school programs, public health platforms, and community outreach activities.
