Work-integrated Learning (WIL) is a leading pedagogy that combines theory with application. The Council for Higher Education WIL good practice guide (Education 2011) further clarifies other forms of WIL which are Project-Based Learning, Problem-Based Learning, and Simulation. Despite these WIL modalities, there is still a high unemployment rate in South Africa (Khumalo 2021). This study looks at adapting the alternative modality of entrepreneurial Work-Integrated Learning for Somatology Students in the Universities of Technology.
This study aims of to adapt the existing framework(s) of Work Integrated Learning (WIL) in an entrepreneurship approach for Somatology Students.
The researcher came up with a framework that is adaptable and applicable to Somatology, thus yielding Somatology graduates that will be self-employed and self-sustaining and also have an entrepreneurial mindset.
The proposed adapted framework is reflective, systemic, and of an academic nature. The adapted framework should be adopted by the Universities of Technology in Somatology programmes.
