Customer company has grown significantly over the past few years. The rapid growth has led to a need to develop reporting into a level that will continue to support the business to grow even further. The objective of the thesis is to provide proposal of improved reporting solutions to the customer with enhanced visualizations.
The research design of the thesis is divided into current state analysis, conceptual framework, initial proposal, and final proposal. First focus is on the current state of reporting in the customer company and identifying the strengths and weaknesses of reporting, resulting on the needs customer company has. Three key needs were identified, getting the grown business in control, lack of visualizations, and cutting down manual work. Findings from the current state analysis were categorized under three key questions and conceptual framework was built to answer these questions. Conceptual framework focused on leading with data, visualizations, and data warehousing. Initial proposal presents the improvement points for the findings, Look Ahead report and Transportation Planning report are introduced as well as number of improvements for cutting down manual work. Initial proposal was presented to the customer company and finalized based on the received feedback.
The outcome of this thesis is an improvement proposal for customer company of their business reporting. Together with the recommended next steps customer company can effectively implement the proposed improvements to streamline operations, automate tasks, and achieve more efficiency and productivity which leads to profitable results.
